The XNX Transmitter: A Complete Review

XNX Universal Transmitter is an intensively flexible transmitter that accepts signals in the Honeywell Analytic range. In addition, it provides a wide-ranging standard output. As a result, users can fulfill their gas detection requirements using a single interface.

It can measure flammable gases in the range of up to 100LEL. Meanwhile, the content of the infrared sensor is 0-100% for hydrocarbons, 0-1000% for Methane, and the same for Carbon Dioxide.

The XNX Universal Transmitter has three primary settings for different sensors type.

  • The mV (millivolt) configuration is for all millivolt signal sensors. They include Sensepoint HT, MPD, and Model 705. 
  •    The Electrochemical Cell configuration is for situations when an Oxygen sensor or XNX EC is in use.

The Infrared customization works with Searchline Excel and Searchpoint Optima Plus gas sensor. 


The XNX Universal transmitter usually is for working in possibly explosive nearby environments. For this, users should follow the installation guideline. 

Firstly, a protected cable is best. The ideal area of the section of the appropriate line is 0.5〖mm〗^2 to 2.5〖mm〗^2. It depends on the minimum operating voltage demand and the cable’s length. Five entries of M25 present in the system help mount local sensors and for accepting the line from sensors mounted at a distance. 

What is the Maximum Cable Length?

The maximum cable length appropriate to use with a controller and pointer usually depends upon the following facts:

  • The minimum voltage supply.
  • The nominal voltage in the sensor.
  • The minimum current flow in the sensor.
  • How much resistance does the cable have?
  • How independent is the controller for input?
  • Besides this, some appropriate sizes for an XNX mV and MPD sensor are 347m, 551m, 880m, and 1408m. 

Terminals on Module:

All connections of the sensor and module connect at the terminal block. It rests on a movable POD module. Furthermore, the terminals depend on the three basic settings and options.

Current Output: It supports HART 6.0 structure.

Terminals: it has a cage-looking plug-in with screws that support wire of diameter 0.5 [mm]^2 to 2.5 [mm]^2.

Installation (HART Port): it connects to cable entries on the XNX device.

The XNX universal transmitter uses a wide array of remote gas sensors or Honeywell Analytical sensors. It can detect toxic, flammable, and Oxygen hazards.
